Physio Pilates is a group based exercise class, led by our Pilates trained physiotherapists. Pilates involves a range of floor, standing and apparatus assisted exercises. Some of the many benefits associated include; improved body awareness, core stability, pelvic floor control, as well as improvements in movement patterning and motor control.
Pilates is ideal for a wide range of conditions and levels of ability. Pilates has been shown to;
- manage and reduce back and neck pain,
- improve posture, and work related pain and stiffness,
- speed up recovery time from injury and assist in rehabilitation,
- improve athletic performance,
- and improve pelvic and abdominal control post pregnancy.
Our Pilates program runs as a 10 week program, where participants attend once or twice per week, depending on the individual preference. Classes are kept to a 10 person minimum to ensure all participants are supervised appropriately. All participants undertaking a term of pilates receive a free 15 minute assessment prior to commencing the program to determine level of ability and help tailor the program to suit individual needs. A final assessment is done on the completion of the 10 weeks to determine functional improvement. Participants can then continue with our supervised programs, or continue at home with an individually tailored home program. As all Pilates classes are run by registered physiotherapist, a rebate can be claimed using your private health insurance. The amount covered will differ between providers.
Class fee’s: $24 per class, or $220 per term (10 week term, 1 class per week)
